Chair rail runs horizontally around a room at a consistent height, and a clean result depends on a level line, tight corners, and a height that suits the space. We measure the room, set a level reference line, and cut and cope the corners so the joints close up tight. We fasten the rail securely into the framing, fill and caulk the seams, and pair it cleanly with wainscoting or paint breaks where you want them. Whether it stands on its own or tops a paneled wall, we install chair rail that holds a straight, even line through the whole room.
