Retaining Wall Construction

What this involves.

A retaining wall has to manage the weight of the soil and the water behind it, so the parts you do not see matter most. We excavate, build a compacted base, and set the first course dead level, since everything above depends on it. We stack block or stone with proper batter, install drainage and backfill behind the wall so water does not build up pressure, and tie the wall back as the height calls for. We finish with a clean cap and grade the area to direct water away. The result is a wall that holds the ground and stays straight.
